The Rock Creek Rural Fire Protection District was formed by the taxpayers in 1993. Currently, the district serves eastern Twin Falls County and portions of northwestern Cassia County -- approximately 200 square miles. The City of Murtaugh is included in the district; while the cities of Kimberly and Hansen are not part of the taxing district. The City of Hansen contracts with the district to provide staffing of the Hansen Fire Department. The City of Kimberly has an agreement with the district to provide staffing, training, and housing of their equipment.
